Comments about Crispin Klik Klak Bed:

I found it quite easy to assemble and I'm close to being a senior.. It will be most suitable for an extra bed for occasional guests and a comfy spot to put your feet up and watch some TV. For the price it meets our expectations just fine and is a good space saver in our downsized home now that we have retired.

Of note: the sales rep should try and be more informed of what size the boxes are as he thought I could just pick it up in my car...no way! It had to be delivered...the delivery guys were great though!

Comments about Crispin Klik Klak Bed:

Are you one of those people that thinks that weekend leisure is for wusses and that life just does not have enough complexity? Well then, this futon's for you.

I really liked the functional design when I saw this futon at the Leon's showroom. It folds into a queen sized bed because of an innovative armrest design. I also liked that the sitting (and sleeping) surface was hard, I am not a fan of soft fluffy surfaces usually found on sofas/futons as they are not good for my back.

But we were completely misled by the sales person on the assembly effort, who told us it would be very minor. The first thing you'll feel when you open the box is an assembler's worst nightmare, i.e. missing parts. Then after you've vented a bit, you realize that the parts are actually tucked away in the sofa behind the fabric. The next challenge is to get the parts out without damaging the fabric, this is no easy feat navigating through random strips of cloth (?) tied to hold them in! Finally when you get everything out, you're confronted by the assembly "manual". Here, the design geniuses in China clearly went into overdrive trying to achieve the most confusion humanly possible from a manual. The pictures were likely printed on the lowest resolution dot matrix available in the 90s. And the accompanying instructions take minimalism to a whole new level. But wait, there's more! The actual hardware (screws, bolts, allen wrench) are exhibits from what was likely the biggest cost cutting exercise this century. Someone probably asked "How can we make the 25c allen wrench for only 24c?" while building these parts.

Needless to say, it took a long time and lots of revisions to get the assembly right. For the amount they charge for this futon, they could've very easily spent a bit more on the packaging, instructions and parts. I've assembled all kinds of furniture from all kinds of shops and this was by far the worst experience and negates any positive thoughts I had about this futon when I first saw it in the showroom.

Unless you hate your weekends and find simplicity annoying, spend your money elsewhere.
