This thing makes a lot of noises and starts and stops a lot between cycles
When it does decide to go into high spin it shakes real bad. There is not
enough water in the machine and is hard on clothes. I think I will be fighting
this one for a while.

Comments about Maytag White Top-Load Washer (5.0 Cu. Ft.) - MVWX655DW:

Our front loader finally died on us after over 10 years of constant use and some repairs. This Bravos was the one we chose to replace it since it's deemed HE, there isn't a rubber fold to constantly clean to prevent mildew build-up (no more front loaders for us ever, until that nuisance gets resolved), and it fits perfectly in the limited space we have in our older home.

We've washed jackets, towels, blankets, delicates, jeans and regular items; using the suggested settings in the manual everything came out cleaner than they had in the last few years with our old machine. It's gentle on fabrics like a front loader (as opposed to an agitator which is hard on clothes), but still packs a punch (again using suggested settings form the manual) for heavily soiled items including grease and dirt on husbands work clothes.

While it is louder than our previous machine, it is quieter than a regular agitating machine. It does take longer than a front loader, but top loader HE machines usually do in order to get the water to works its way through the clothing from top dispensing and agitation. This machine is not an EnergyStar rated unit, but lucky for us, our old front loader was rated to use more than twice as much kWh due to its out-dated technology, so we're also fine there. Essentially, and if I've done the math right, the longer cycles on this unit from our old one will still likely cost us less or at least the same amount on our energy bill, since it does not take twice as long to wash a load. If the EnergyStar rating is not an issue as it wasn't in our case, then this machine is a terrific replacement or even as a first machine.

Tip: Loosely lay items to be washed into the tub, dropping articles in a loosely circular fashion to give it a balanced load and don't push down on the top to force the laundry in. If you have to do that, then you're overloading it and the laundry will not come out clean.

Comments about Maytag White Top-Load Washer (5.0 Cu. Ft.) - MVWX655DW:

I bought this machine two years ago. It's done nothing but drive me crazy. The wash cycles are over an hour long. It has a setting for large loads like sheets and comforters, but it becomes unbalanced and starts banging the sides of the washing machine. You have to stop it to move the bedding around while it's sopping wet, then when you restart it, it goes back to the beginning of the cycle. Now we're looking at two hours to wash this stuff. The water level is also not enough to properly clean the items in the washer, and most of my hand wash items don't rinse properly and come out with soap scum all over them. I'm going to be shopping for a new washing machine. Don't waste your money on this machine.

Comments about Maytag White Top-Load Washer (5.0 Cu. Ft.) - MVWX655DW:

I bought the Large Capacity Washer with Optimal Dispensers- 4.3 Cu. Ft. by Maytag May 22 2015 at Leons and if able, I would have been returned after the first wash. The 1st wash did not spin the clothes dry enough to place in the dryer and still does not regularly spin well. I regularly need to use the extra drain/spin so the clothes are drained enough to put in the dryer. Please note I do NOT over fill with clothes, I wash half the clothes I did in my last washer of equal Cu.Ft and I use like materials as specified in the instructions.

The washes shortest cycles take at least an hour (not including having to do another spin/drain) and uses such little water that I have to use the extra rinse cycle on most loads.

The washing machine is VERY hard on the clothes; towels (which I feel are pretty hardy) have been destroyed.

Today the machine stopped draining/spinning completely and smelled like it was burning. I called the warranty # and was told it would be a week until someone could come out. When I tried to escalate a sooner repair date the 'manager' Jessie refused to assist in anyway insisting there was nothing he could do. I spent the morning calling my local repair shops and was able to find a Maytag warranty repair person to come out the same day, but had to call the warranty # again and have Maytag place the request.

Sorry for the long post, but this washer is the WORST purchase I have made. The warranty experience was very unimpressive. I will not be purchasing anything from Maytag/Whirlpool/Jennair ever again.

I was worried about buying it at first since I have always had a traditional machine with the big long thing in the centre, but I love it! I can fit so many more things in my washer, i can see it wash and they always come out nice and clean. The only down side is it takes a little longer than my old washer.

Washer is not muscle washer, says it can handle 19 towels, that false. Light loads are not to bad, but not for a 5 person family,
