New Duel Fuel Range with Double Ovens

    By Rhonda

    from Chesterfield, VA

    Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

I wanted duel fuel with double ovens and separate doors for each oven. I liked the fact that the Kitchen Aid had the smaller oven at the top which is the oven that I use the most. This oven has a lower track position for baking but sliding the rack out to remove pans is tricky since the rack comes in contact with the open door. I use a thick pot holder to prop it up & off the door while using another potholder to remove the pan. I wish there was more space between the lower rack and open door. The upper shelf position puts food really close to the broiler which I have not used. A cake baked in the lower convection oven turned out nicely. After purchasing the Kitchen Aid duel fuel range, I discovered that I needed a recessed electrical outlet. My previous 30 inch GE duel fuel range fit perfectly with a non-recessed outlet. I currently have a 4 inch gap between the Kitchen Aid oven and wall. So, I will be consulting with an electrician to remedy this. I also read previous reviews that the range grates discolor when pans are slid across them. I have seen evidence of this and am now carefully keeping the pans stationary while cooking and lifting them off the grates rather than sliding them. I'm looking forward to using the steam tray when baking bread in the lower oven.

Love the duel fuel AND double oven

    By NJC

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

New construction requires new appliances.... my favorite is the dual fuel double oven. Love cooking with gas on the stovetop and having the convenience of an electric oven. As we are 'empty nesters', we mostly use the top oven; preheats quickly and uses less electricity to heat. Also like having the 5th burner on the stove top; came in handy on Thanksgiving!

Great Features, but top oven broke within the first week.

    By Mike

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

Loved the unit. Used it for a week. Was sitting in the kitchen, without the oven even on (hadn't been used all day in fact) and then we heard a "pop" and then the sound of glass breaking. Turns out the ceramic coating on the top oven must have had an imperfection, because it popped and shattered inside the oven. Getting a replacement next week, but not thrilled about having to take another half-day off of work. Very frustrating. Hopefully oven #2 does better.

The Best Choice for a Gas Cooktop & Electric Oven

    By Doug & Ann

    from Myrtle Beach, SC

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

The range is great having a gas cooktop and a smaller and larger electric oven. We baked 8 freshly made pizzas and the crustst were golden brown the way we love it. All our guests raved!!!The stainless range is a nice accent for our black front refrigerator, microwave & dishwasher. No need to change other appliances. We are very, very happy with the product. Thank you Kitchenaid.

Great Unit but needs better installation instructions.

    By Mo

    from Dayton OH

    Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

Bought unit after a lot of on line shopping against different makes and models along with matching Kitchenaid range hood. Product performs as described and we are happy with it. Only complaints are with installation instructions. Two biggees- to much interpretation left to end user on LP changeover from NG. Their should be a list to tell you which tip matches which burner. Secondly they should tell you that your gas supply valve and 220V receptacle need to be recessed into the wall you are mounting stove or that you need to place these utilities off to the side in a cupboard etc. I downloaded the installation manual and their drawings did not indicate this fact nor was it spelled out in their installation instructions.

Outside of the harder than had to be installation we are very happy with unit.

    Love my new range!

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

I have had my KitchenAid dual fuel range for about three weeks now and, so far, I love it!! I have used both ovens for various foods and baked goods and all have turned out great. The cooktop grills are heavy duty so are very sturdy. Burners are easy to regulate. Can't really say I have any negative comments to date.

    Preheat signal way off!

    By Jay

    from Wisconsin

Comments about KitchenAid Stainless Steel Dual-Fuel Double Convection Range (6.7 Cu. Ft.) - KFDD500ESS:

I bought this range almost a year ago. Both my top and lower ovens indicate they are preheated (preheating done) long before the ovens are really up to the set temperature. I scheduled a service visit on this issue and was told by the service technician that is the way these ovens work. I called Kitchenaid to double check to see if this was indeed true and was told yes. Why would they design an oven that says it is preheated when it is way below, by about 100 degrees, and need about another fifteen minutes to get it up to set temperature? What good is the preheat signal then and why does the manual not state this?

The other issue I have with this range is how easily the burner knobs turn on the gas. Be careful not to brush up against them or you will have gas coming out. They should work harder because children can easily turn on the gas causing a real safety hazard.
